Return to Association
Greetings from the Alberta Chapter to all fellow Dragoons. We became active in 1993, when Reg and Marg Munden returned from the Dragoons Reunion in Ontario and Reg informed us that he had been ambushed by Ed Dzioba and friends and had been selected as Chairman of the Alberta Chapter!
Reg had an Association Nominal Role so we spread out our network from Manitoba to Vancouver Island and the results were very encouraging.
The Chapter has had a great run these past years; celebrating Regimental functions, Barbeques, Mini-Reunions and the Chapter Newsletter. But our biggest achievement was meeting new Dragoons, who were very eager for the contact and to tell us of their Regimental experiences and families.
In February 2007, we received a surprise visit from the Colonel of the Regiment MGen (retired) Clive Addy, the Commanding Officer LCol. Lowell Thomas and the RSM CWO Denis Levesque, each giving a presentation of the Regiments tasks. A lot of information given by the CO and RSM was on the Regiments role in Afghanistan. A question and answer period following the presentation with many Members and their families present who were very impressed by the openness of the event, especially knowing the support the Regiment would be to the families of the men and women serving in Afghanistan. We were very appreciative as we knew that they were on a tight schedule.
Over the past years we have said farewell to so many great friends, wives and companions, not just in this Chapter, but, throughout the Dragoon family. Our social activities have been greatly reduced due to age, health matters and those who decided to move closer to family. Despite the changing of times, we remain in phone contact even with those Members that have moved out of Province.
If you find yourselves out this way, we would be delighted to set up a “Tim’s” meeting to chat and catch up.
