The Royal Canadian Dragoons saw an influx of Tactical Armoured Patrol Vehicles (TAPV) in 2018. This meant a need for training the entire Regiment in driving and fighting this vehicle. Due to the initiative of many, training began immediately upon arrival of the new vehicle. This resulted in the continuous training of soldiers of The Regiment, and other units within 2 CMBG as well as the Army Reserve (ARes). Through the efforts of instructors like WO Andrew Fenton and MCpl Taylor Smith The Regiment ran both driver and gunnery courses simultaneously, with the staff putting in countless hours of their personal time to ensure the highest standard of instruction. Through this initial training, the TAPV principles were developed which inevitably caused a ripple effect throughout 2 CMBG and the ARes. As training is still ongoing, lessons learned aid in how best to implement the TAPV in our doctrine. Bold and Swift.
