On 15 April 2024, The Guild was proud to participate in the official opening of the Regimental Gym and Canteen facilities at a Regimental gathering in the unit lines at Petawawa. Working through the our Quality of Life charitable program, The Guild of The Royal Canadian Dragoons has been very happy to support these critical efforts in making sure our serving soldiers have the tools and support to maintain readiness, morale and esprit-de-corps.
The rejunivation of the Regimental Gym was inspired by the passion of the unit and its historical links to being fit-to-fight as a key measure of our profession. In close collaboration between the Guild and the Regiment, the needs were identified and the gym design established. When established, the soldiers of the Regimental aptly named the Gym in honour Cpl W. Knisley who was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal (DCM) for his gallantry with the Regiment on 7 Nov 1900.
The Regimental Canteen and kitchen was condemned in 2023 after a long and distinguished life. Through the support of the Guild and the hard work of the Regimental team along with our Engineer compatriots, a new state-of-the-art facilitate is now ready to provide quality services to the Regiment and beyond!
We hope you are as excited as we are. If you want to support the continuation of our charitable programs, please donate what you can by clicking here.
