Here is update #1 with the information now available from the Colonel of The Regt and family:
Folks, By now I am fairly certain that you have all heard of the passing of Bob Meating on 01 January 2026 – my thanks to all who have spread the news. I have been in touch with Bob’s daughter Alison, who is the designated point of contact from the family, and passed along condolences on behalf of the entire Regimental Family. Plans are still being formulated, but the intent is to have a celebration of life in Calgary sometime in the Spring (I am assuming March or April by this), followed by a funeral at Beechwood sometime later in the spring or early summer. As details get firmed up, I will ensure that they are shared out, and our website Dragoons.ca will carry the latest information. For the moment, as the family gathers itself together, there is no need to consider a trip out West.
